Made from natural konjac and infused with red clay to accelerate the skin regeneration process, the odd looking little sponge that you see in the picture above has become a welcome addition to my daily facial cleansing routine.
As the thought of going to sleep with traces of make-up or dirt on my face makes me shudder, I’m always on the lookout for new tools and gadgets that promise to deeply clean the skin.
The Konjac French Red Clay Sponge, £7.99 is designed to act as a handy cleansing and exfoliation tool and I’ve been finding that it’s great at leaving my skin feeling clear, soft and smooth.
French Clay is hugely popular among beauty therapists due to its cleansing, exfoliating, smoothing and softening effects on the skin. There are many different types of French clay including green clay (for those with an oily T-zone), pink clay (for those that have been exposed to sun) and red clay (for those with dry or mature skin).
I opted to go for the red clay sponge as it seemed best suited to my dehydrated skin and I’ve been using it with my current favourite cleanser (the Elemis Rehydrating Rose Petal) twice a day for the past fortnight. I’ve simply been applying my cleanser as usual, then rinsing the sponge under warm water before gently using it to buff over my skin in small, circular motions. I really feel like it’s improved the texture of my skin already so I can’t wait to see what the results are like when I’ve used it for longer.
Although my konjac puff looks quite rough and reminds me of a traditional sea sponge, it’s actually incredibly soft to touch and is even recommended for those who suffer from eczema and psoriasis!
All products sold by The Konjac Sponge Co are 100% natural, very affordable and are hand-made in Japan. They also come with a stamp of approval from Cruelty Free International, which can’t be a bad thing!
I’d recommend konjac sponges to anybody looking to improve their current skincare regime.
