I know that I shouldn’t, but I attack my hair with scorching straighteners and curlers pretty much every day. Though I always use a pre-styling spray to protect it, my continuous use of heated tools has left my hair feeling dry and looking rather dull and lifeless. I’ve tried numerous hair treatments and masques in my quest to solve this issue and I’m delighted to have discovered a new favourite.
Jo Hansford’s Expert Colour Care Intensive Masque (£27 for 150ml) is a luxury hair care product that promises to leave your locks feeling deeply moisturised, nourished and glossy. After shampooing and towel-drying my hair (as per the included instructions), I applied a tiny scoop of the Intensive Masque to the ends of my hair and brushed it through with my trusty Tangle Teezer (I’ll be telling you all a little bit more about why I am so in love with this product next week). I then left it for a good 5 minutes to work its magic.
The product itself has an unusual mousse-like texture and you only need a small amount to achieve fantastic results. It feels light and fluffy rather than thick and rich and, as a result, doesn’t leave your hair looking heavy and greasy like many similar products do. The masque is infused with Keratin Amino Acids to condition the hair and, after washing it out, I was amazed to find my hair immediately felt smoother and silkier to the touch.
Another thing that struck me about this masque was how easy it was to wash out. I’ve tried several masques in the past which have clung to my hair and weighed it down but this one glided out without me having to put in any work at all (a major bonus for a lazy girl like me!) I also found my hair to be a lot more manageable when I blow-dried it later that evening and it didn’t even require its usual drenching of detangling spray.
Jo Hansford is a high-end London-based salon with a huge range of celebrity clients including Elizabeth Hurley and Georgia Jagger and, based on my experience with this product, I can see why it is so popular. At £27, this masque is definitely on the pricey side of the hair care spectrum but this is one item I’ll definitely be splurging on again as the pot is really big so will last for a very long time. I can’t wait to try more items from her range and definitely have my eye on her Illuminoil (£29 for 50ml).
