Day 1 of London Fashion Week. Myself and Bee wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed feeling ready to take on the world, and the 3 inch heels on our feet! What we weren’t to know is that it would be blowing a gale outside and funnily enough the plastic poncho was a hot trend down at Freemasons Hall. Fashion Scout created a fantastic itinerary of shows including some sleek structure from Jamie We Huang, some pop art meets Americana from Nap Sugar and 3 unique designers for their own “Ones to Watch” show. From the first day you could tell that A/W14 surrounds 3 colours – crisp whites, rich navy blues and tomato reds, with a ton of embellishment on top. That was until the Pam Hogg show exploded the world with colour and rebellion which you can read all about on my post here.

Day 2 was all about Somerset House. When we arrived it was a circus of photographers, cars, security, filming and so many different styles passing before your eyes. It was such an inspiring place to find some style inspiration. Myself and Bee were both sporting some Scottish design in the form of Obscure Couture and Hayley Scanlan and it really seemed to turn a few heads! It was great holding our head held high in telling them they were made and designed in Scotland. We took a wander around the British Fashion Council exhibitions, particularly the Hedonism section where we tried on and petted some dreamy millinery! Later we were back at Freemasons Hall for the Belle Sauvage show, which captured our hearts with black and gold motifs topped with red lipsticks. Can you get more Betty and Bee than that?

Day 3 was a biggie for us, first off we had to pack up our things (trust me, we had a lot of things) to move hotel, but first it was off to Pringle of Scotland within The Savile Club for a very prim, proper and well produced show. There were dainty fruit skewers and pastries, with tea and coffee dressed in the finest china. I felt like I was a young girl again, imagining my Mum hanging over me telling me not to touch anything, we were not in Glasgow anymore that’s for sure! After the presentation we went for a spot of shopping before heading back to Somerset House for the Vivienne Westwood show accompanied by friends old and new. Afterwards we moved into our new hotel The Guoman Tower Bridge which was just breathtaking, yea, London was settling in just nicely.

Lowlight: Rush packing pre-scheduled meetings is never a good idea
Day 4 was a day of bags, bags and eh, brogues! Waking up in the comfiest bed within the Guoman Tower Bridge made it so much more difficult to get up! We were meeting Radley for breakfast in Covent Garden and let me tell you, we would have never made any of our appointments if it wasn’t for the app of all app’s City Mapper! After some eggs benedict and some severe designer collab guessing later, we made our way to Kensington for a look around Mulberry HQ which was a sight in itself alone! We were there to see the new Cara collections but to be honest, I was drooling over their S/S14 pieces on show! Later we headed back to Somerset House to meet some of our blogger friends for a bite to eat and a walk around the Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore! exhibition. Not all of mine and Bee’s friends are as into fashion as we are (which we love) but it was amazing to be in the company of people who get as excited and emotional about fashion the way we do. It seems we had met ‘our people’ who of course are the ones who openly admit to wear ball gowns to buy milk from the corner shop! Isabella Blow would have been proud!
Highlight: Seeing Alexander McQueen’s first collection up close and unfinished warts and all, absolutely breathtaking

The day had come, it was time to go home. We had firmly stated our desire to just never leave the Tower Bridge Hotel, especially after setting up camp by the omelette man for the most of the morning. London Fashion Week had officially done a number on us and we finally got the beginnings of the LFW Flu which we were warned comes immediately after the madness ends. London was very good to us and we can’t wait to do it all again in September with a completely new view on outfit planning in mind! Roll on SS15!
