Tuesday night saw Britain’s finest fashionistas gather at the Savoy hotel in London to attend one of the country’s most important awards ceremonies: the British Fashion Awards.
The biggest winner on the night had to be Stella McCartney, who scooped two awards, for Designer Brand and Designer of the Year. Wearing one of her own strapless black jumpsuits with embellished sides, McCartney looked as stunning as ever when collecting both her accolades. When accepting the award for Designer Brand, she told the audience how a well-known Creative Director in Paris had once told her that she would never succeed in creating her own label in Britain; she’s certainly proved them wrong.
Next up we have the beautiful Cara Delevigne, who won Model of the Year and wore a Burberry dress and shoes, with Dominic Jones jewellery. After the show on Tuesday night she told reporters, “It’s completely mad… it’s only just starting to sink in!” A well-deserved trophy for the model of the moment!
Scottish fashion designer Jonathan Saunders took home the award for Emerging Talent in Menswear, and looked utterly charming in this black dinner jacket and patent brogues.
And what would any British fashion shindig be without Alexa Chung? For the third year in a row the long-legged beauty won the British Style Award, which she collected wearing an embroidered shift dress by Simone Rocha, and multi-coloured boots by Nicholas Kirkwood.
Other winners from the night included J.W. Anderson (Emerging Talent- Ready-to-Wear), Sophie Hulme (Emerging Talent – Accessories), Harold Tillman CBE (Special Recognition Award), Roksanda Ilincic,( Red Carpet Award), Nicholas Kirkwood (Accessory Designer), Professor Louise Wilson OBE (Isabella Blow Award for Fashion Creator), Erdem Moralioglu (New Establishment) and Kim Jones (Menswear Designer).
