If you’re a student and you don’t have the Gangnam Style choreography down to a tee, you should hang your head in shame. Inspired by the 2012 dance phenomenon, Scotcampus have searched the VH1 vaults to find our five favourite routines of all time- it’s time to get Footloose!
Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It) – Beyonce

Surprisingly this iconic song didn’t hit the No.1 spot in the UK, but it did take the world and the internet by storm back in 2008 (yes, it really was that long ago). The music video became one of the most parodied of all time; Justin Timberlake couldn’t resist whipping on his heels for Saturday Night Live, and who could forget Kurt teaching the football team how to hand-twirl in Glee? It doesn’t matter if you’re single or in a relationship, throw on those leotards and dig out that robotic hand, to prove that girls do run the world!
Thriller – Michael Jackson

If it wasn’t for this groundbreaking number, the King of Pop would still be a Prince waiting for his throne. Yes this was released when your parents were teenagers, but that doesn’t change how amazing it is to be dressed up for Halloween in a room packed full of zombies and werewolves, as everyone simultaneously tears up the dance floor. Why not get a little cocky and add in the moonwalk for good measure? The King would be proud.
Hoedown Throwdown – Miley Cyrus

Boom-boom-clap-boom-de-clap- de-clap. Who remembers Miley Cyrus before she cut her hair off,
got engaged to a Hemsworth brother and starred in that God- awful Demi Moore comeback movie, LOL? If you’re in the minority who do remember the golden years of Hannah Montana then there’s a good chance you got your Hoe on. It’s probably not a good idea to admit it- definite guilty pleasure.
YMCA – The Village People, Cha Cha Slide – DJ Casper, The Ketchup Song – Las Ketchup

We just couldn’t choose between these three school disco classics. Cringeworthy, yes, but nevertheless they’re a nostalgic part of our blissful childhoods. So, whether you enjoy making letters with your arms or grooving to songs about condiments, these cheesy tunes offer something for everyone!
Trouble with Boys – Loreta

The song and singer may seem unfamiliar, but you might just find yourself belting out the chorus next time it comes on the radio. Why? It was made famous by a fictional brother and sister duo from one of the best sitcoms of our generation… that’s right; Monica and Ross from Friends! If you have seen every Friends episode several times, and you can recite almost every line, then you’ll already be aware of the specialness that is The Routine. If you have no idea what we’re on about, buy or borrow the box set and get studying. Take centre stage next New Year’s Eve and I guarantee you will be admired by all, gain respect from fellow Friends addicts and, best of all, be offered free drinks on the house for providing the bar guy with so much hilarity.
