US metalcore outfit Beartooth have been riding a wave of popularity this year. They came screaming through the festival season with massive sets at Reading and Leeds, emerging on the other side to power through tours alongside the legendary Slipknot and Bring Me The Horizon. Now, finally, the reins are off, they’re flying solo, and they’re coming to SWG3 in Glasgow on the 27th November.
Their debut album Disgusting and single In Between both reached #1 on the UK iTunes Metal charts, and the band have now sold over 60,000 albums and had over 15 Million streams on Spotify alone, but if you’ve yet to become acquainted with them, we highly recommend taking this opportunity to see them live.
Having toured Disgusting pretty extensively around the world, we’re expecting a big performance with plenty of polish, but with the kind of passion you only get from a band that’s finally freed of support duties and given the space to run riot.
Of course, a lot rides on the shoulders of writer, producer and lead singer Caleb Shomo. His back-to-basics hardcore stomp and anthemic choruses show great range but, more importantly, come straight from the heart.
Hardly surprising from a man whose early flirtations with fame in his first band Attack Attack ended in near meltdown in a bout of depression, before he rediscovered his love of music and formed Beartooth. If he’s in full song, or better still, furious with the world, we’re expecting fireworks. And not of the weedy pyrotechnic kind.
And once you’ve been blown away by their raw power, check back for our Scotcampus December/January edition, where you’ll find an exclusive interview with elusive frontman Caleb Shomo. Be excited folks, be very excited.
