With Halloween edging ever closer, we at Scotcampus have started planning our costumes, and thought we’d share some of our simplest ‘how tos’. First up, one of this year’s most popular outfit choices; the Miley Cyrus costume. Not one for the faint hearted, Miley’s 2013 VMAs look doesn’t involve much more than underwear and a foam finger, but you can be sure your costume will be instantly recognisable on the dancefloor.

Step 1: Avoid the overpriced, red nail adorned foam fingers doing the rounds, and instead buy a plain white finger and paint the nails on yourself. Just £4.99 will get you one of the bad boys below (courtesy of dusty69trout on eBay – hello to you), while a slick of Barry M nail paint in shade number NP262 will set you back just £2.99 – and you know you’ll totally use it again.
Step 2: While an authentic flesh-coloured latex bikini will probably require a rummage around some slightly unsavoury fetish shops, American Apparel’s nude high waisted knickers are made from comfy jersey spandex, and won’t squeak when you walk – always a bonus. Pop on some flesh coloured tights underneath if you don’t want to catch your death. It may be Halloween, but this is still Scotland, and otherwise you’ll be teaming your pants with nothing but the matching bralet.
Step 3: Remember when you used to put two buns atop your head and gel down the rest of your hair to look like Scary Spice? Do it again.
Step 4: Stick out your tongue a lot. Bonus authenticity points if it’s an off-grey colour.
Step 5: Hit the dance floor, twerk it and wait for the goon in the Beetlejuice suit dressed as Robin Thicke to approach. Your transformation is complete!
