It’s my third day at Scotcampus HQ, and I am loving it! Today we’ve been brainstorming ideas for the Futures Fest in March and I cant wait for it! As a student I know how hard it is to get experience in my desired career path, media. It’s a tough slog but it’s definitely worth it, the things I’ve learned from previous work experience have been so beneficial and I believe you can’t have too much experience in this business. For tips on work experience, networking and social media check out my article from today which features on the FuturesFest website.
There has been constant chat about cocktails and burgers in the office today and now I am extremely hungry. Scotcampus are looking for someone to complete the 10,000 calorie burger challenge, if that isn’t Man vs Food I don’t know what is! The challenge consists of 2 beef burgers, 150g of pulled pork, 2 slices of bacon and cheese, a chicken breast, 3 onion rings, a burger bun, a portion of cajun wedges and a milkshake to wash it down with. WOW. It does sound like some munch for those of us not doing a January diet. If you think you can handle it give us a tweet @scotcampus!
Today I wrote about Glasgow’s best weeknight clubs for Scotcampus’ new city guide which launches the 1st of February, for those of you who want to check that out! As a student I spend all my pennies on cheap vodka and outfits for hitting the town. My favourite has to be a Juicy Tuesdays at Kushion, in my eyes you can’t beat it! It’s really has been lovely writing for Scotcampus this week and hopefully you’ll hear more from me in the future! Until then, I’ll see everyone at FuturesFest!
This is the second day of my internship with Scotcampus and the day has absolutely flew in. Can’t believe it’s time to go home already. Today was off to a nippier, but drier start, than yesterday. Made it to the train station to find that I had stupidly forgotten my purse – luckily I had a few snacks to keep me going in my bag. And my monthly train ticket! This morning, I was researching job interviews tips for the Futures Fest website. I found myself thinking “so that’s why I didn’t get that job!” Everyday is a school day, as they say. My afternoon was filled with looking into the best places to grab a burger in Glasgow for the new city guide. Seems like the people of Glasgow love a burger! So many places to choose from but I whittled it down to five: Burger Meats Bun, Nice n Sleazy, Cocktail & Burger, Adlib and Meat Bar. I think I’ve seen enough pictures of burgers to put me off for a little while. I’m sure my waistline will thank me come the summer.
Day 3 already, where has the time gone? Investigating is one of the reasons that I’m studying journalism and today I got to do loads of it. I even tried my hand doing IT, let’s just say growling at the printer and begging it to work didn’t help in the slightest. Today I looked at the various jobs and roles within the Armed Forces and even discovered they have an app for keeping fit the army way. Maybe I’ll just stick to the stairs as the thought of me in camouflage trousers and my backside in the air crawling under mesh is enough to put anyone off fitness for life. Futures Fest is coming up and there are so many companies in all the various industries involved so make sure you get yourself down to The Arches on March 18th and 19th! There was a lot of talk about burgers in the office today, not sure if it was making me feel hungry or nauseous. Check out the burger challenge, Man vs Food style, and if you’re brave enough to put your name forward, good luck with that one. In the afternoon I got to write about cocktails, not good for my diet but handy none the less, for the new city guide launch in February. Now home to get ready to go see the Fun Lovin Criminals, you can read my review tomorrow!
