Chanel comes to Scotland… Sorry what? Yes, it’s true! Karl Lagerfeld is bringing his next show to Scotland, specifically a secret location outside of Edinburgh.
The Metiers d’Art show is always the most spectacular show of the year for Chanel and always has a backdrop to match- Paris, Tokyo, New York, Shanghai and now Edinburgh. The latest setting was apparently selected due to its gothic architecture and surrounding rocky hills- could this be a hint at a dark romantic theme for the show?
We’ll just have to wait and see, as the only information be revealed about the show as of yet is its date; it will take place on December 4th.
The show always has a clear theme and last year, in Paris, Lagerfeld make a dramatic statement by showing a range of lavish Indian inspired garments, headed up by model Stella Tennant. You might be wondering what’s so dramatic about that but, in the current economic climate, showcasing diamonds, pearls and fur was always going to be controversial. Did I mention that the dinner was severed on gold plates?
Launched eight years ago the Metiers d’Art is an opportunity to showcase French craftsmanship. Of course, there is always a long list of celebrities willing to help celebrate, with former guests including Freida Pinto, Vanessa Paradis and Diane Kruger.
Personally I cannot wait to see how Edinburgh will inspire the show, and I’m always enthusiastic to see Scotland getting involved in the high fashion world. I am also super excited at the fact Karl Lagerfeld will be within a fifty mile radius of me during his visit- now that’s something to get excited about!
