Cara Delevingne is the current name on everyone in the fashion world’s lips. Without a shadow of a doubt, the 20-year-old is the model of the moment, being described as the “star face” of the autumn/winter 2012-2013 show season.
The face of Burberry, Delevingne also walked the runway for Oscar de la Renta, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, Stella McCartney and Chanel, among others. Impressive list I know!
Not only that, but Cara has been nominated for the Model of the Year award, by the British Fashion Awards. I know who I’d put my money on if I was a betting girl!
As if all of this wasn’t enough, 2012 saw the model make her first big screen appearance in Joe Wright’s Anna Karenina. Delevingne plays the love interest of Aaron Johnson’s character Count Vronsky, and the envy of Keria Knightley’s character Anna Karenina.
Although Delevingne’s first screen character was more of a pretty face than a dialogue loaded character, she definitely caught the eye of one industry pro.
Actress Sadie Frost, who recently set up her own production company Blonde to Black pictures, has said she would love to cast the young model in her new film Set the Thames on Fire. Frost thinks Delevingne has a great energy and look, and they are currently in talks over whether she will star in the film or not.
Delevingne looks set to be following in the footsteps of fellow model Agyness Deyn, who has successfully made the transition from model to actress. Deyn has now retired from her modelling career to follow her true passion, acting, but could the fashion world also lose Delevingne to the thespian side of life?
It would not surprise me in the slightest if her second career got off to the same remarkable start her modelling career has.
