The 2013 Scottish Fashion Awards invaded London in true patriotic style last night, taking over Dover House – the home of the Scotland Office – with Christopher Kane, Mary Charteris and Louise Gray amongst those picking up awards. Hosted by MTV presenter Laura Whitmore, who wore a sheer panelled Christopher Kane dress for the occasion, the evening continued with a champagne reception and Scottish banquet at the beautiful 8 Northumberland Avenue.
With model David Gandy and rugby star Thom Evans both in attendance, the ladies of the Scottish Fashion Awards had pulled out all the stops to impress, in an array of Scottish designer pieces from the likes of MeeMee Couture, Loula Creates, Rebecca Torres and Joanne McGillivray. While Scotcampus fashion columnist Jennifer Welford lost out on scooping the coveted Retailer Of The Year prize, which went to long established high street chain Schuh, the Pokey Hat owner looked stunning in a black floor length gown by Prodiga – previously seen on Made In Chelsea star Millie Mackintosh.
After feasting on a starter of scallops and haggis, a delicious roast beef main and the inspired Irn-Bru sorbet for dessert, the final awards of the night were given out to Scottish Ambassador Of The Year Harris Tweed, and Hall Of Fame inductee Brian Duffy, former group president of Ralph Lauren Europe. Entertainment came from Beatnik, before the party moved on to Whisky Mist, and we misplaced our goody bag on the dance floor… There went our plan for a 3am Tunnocks Caramel Wafer.
