Put down your telescope and forget the Hollywood Walk of Fame, this autumn it is your wardrobe’s chance to shine. Since Dolce & Gabbana shot star spangled dresses down their Winter 2011 catwalk, everyone from Lily Allen to Kim Kardashian has been rocking the intergalactic print. Time to hit the high street and earn your gold style star…
For effortless daytime shine look no further than Topshop who are stocking everything from tees to tights in varying star prints. Step up your usual uni look by teaming their £38 navy ruffled blouse with their Oxblood faux leather shorts (£30), or heal your hangover by lounging in some super chic pink starry pyjamas (£34). Sick bucket not included.
MOTO’s metallic foil star skinny jeans are the perfect alternative to boring black denim and at £50 they’re what student discount was made for. Keep your top half plain and team with this season’s slipper shoe by day and skyhigh wedges for a funky evening look. If you’re more of a night owl sequined stars provide the ultimate girlie glamour.
Billie Faiers, of The Only Way is Essex fame, was recently seen sporting Maggie and Me’s sequin star dress.
A bargain at £40, this monochrome mini ticks more trend boxes than I can count, and is available from Match Clothing. Add nude platforms to make pins look endless, a la Cheryl Cole.
If the thought of wearing head-totoe stars makes your blood run cold then fear not as there are plenty of ways to ease the trend in to your accessories. Aldo’s Hafen court shoes may be a tad pricey at £80 but the classic court shape will keep them on-trend for seasons to come and the statement stars will dress up any outfit, while Henry Holland’s star print tights are a favourite with the likes of Jessie J, and will add interest to your LBD.
Bag ladies will love Accessorize’s sequined star clutch (£45), a great variation on last year’s heart shaped handbags and your guaranteed Christmas party staple, while jewellery junkies should head to River Island for star sprinkled necklaces and earrings.
Print princess? Make like Katy Perry and rock the Americana look by mixing your stars with stripes. From Topshop’s denim flag hotpants to ASOS’ sequin bodycon dress, there is a variation of this look to suit everyone. Gain effortless style points by heading to Schuh and investing in some cool but comfy Wonder Woman Converse.
Boys can get in on the Americana act too, with BANK’s Irreverance brand and their selection of American flag t-shirts, or for piercing fans head to Topman for a great selection of star shaped earrings in a rainbow of colours.
No matter how you choose to wear your stars this season make sure there’s a twinkle in your eye to complete the look. Tonight Matthew, I’m going to be…
