Scotland, you are looking pretty arty this weekend. From light shows and short film discoveries to some vintage shopping finds, we’re all about exploring some culture (and taking in plenty of festive treats while we’re at it).
Friday 13th November, 7pm-10.30pm, National Museum of Scotland, Chambers Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1JF
It’s funny how museums are now our sources of endless entertainment and Instagram opportunities. Maybe it’s because we get to run around the National Museum of Scotland at night, partaking in a gin parlour, silent disco, and dancing to Honeyblood on the main stage. Our old school trips just don’t compare.
Price: £12 Late only, £18-£20 Late + Exhibition
13th November-20th December 2015, 10am-8pm (Varies by day), 55 St Enoch Square, Glasgow City Centre G1 4BW
Oh yes, it’s that time of the year. You may now find your path somewhat blocked by a delightful set of festive stalls in St. Enoch Square while you’re popping into Boots to get a sandwich deal. It’s all worth it: mulled wine and paella for all.
Friday 13th November, 8pm, Dundee Repertory Theatre, Tay Square, Dundee, DD1 1PB
Once a month, stand-up comedians from all over the UK bring forth their chat to Dundee’s comedy clubs. This Friday you have David Hadingham, David Kay and Jack Campbell at your mercy. There’s not too much you need to do to prepare, all you have to do is turn up and (hopefully) Just Laugh.
13th-22nd November 2015, 7:30pm-9:30pm, Summerhall, 1 Summerhall, Summerhall Place, Edinburgh, Midlothian, EH9 1QH
Short films are pretty much perfect- still entertaining but you’re less likely to fall asleep in a comfy cinema chair that you’ve sat in for too long. There’s a different theme for each day, with Edinburgh Gothic taking centre stage on Sunday 15th November. From Dr Jekyll & Hyde to Nuns of Evil, we’re making Halloween last as long as we can.
Saturday 14th November, 10am-4pm, Urban Village Resort, Prime Four Retail Park, Kingswells, Aberdeen, AB15 8PJ
With a name this delicious, it’s hard for any vintage lover to pass this event up. Treat yourself to some vintage style afternoon tea while you browse the clothes accessories and homeware. You can justify buying another silk scarf by snapping up some early Christmas presents too!
13th-15th November, Friday: 5pm-9pm, Saturday: 10am-6pm, Sunday: 10am-5pm, EICC, The Exchange, 150 Morrison St, Edinburgh EH3 8EE
Let us set the scene: Artisan Christmas Market, Champagne Ski Bar and oh, a Scottish Gin Theatre. Need we say more? How about baked snowballs and a Pudding Hall dedicated to mince pies? Sold.
Saturday 14th November, Frozen 11am & 4pm, Arthur Christmas 1.30pm, Tolbooth Jail Wynd, Stirling FK8 1DE
We finally have an excuse to sing along to Frozen now we’re almost halfway through November. That’s close enough to December right? If you need a bit of a break from Olaf’s voice, we get it- there’s some Arthur Christmas too for some chilled weekend viewing.
13th-15th November, 5pm-8.30pm, East Gate, Inverleith Row, Edinburgh
We love that this event’s description mentions spotting badgers and foxes. As you do. The Royal Botanic Gardens are being illuminated with a light show, special sound effects with a plentiful supply mulled wine for good measure. We’re sensing a pattern with the mulled wine here…’tis almost the season!
