A is for alcohol. Enjoy responsibly.
B is for Beachbreak, Belladrum and Bestival; three BANGING festivals that we’re giving away tickets to in our festival competition section.
C is for camping, a necessary festival evil. If you don’t fancy a sore back and a soggy sleeping bag, why not try a yurt (see Y) this year? Or that Premier Inn right on the border of the campsite…
D is for dancing, which is what you should be doing at festivals, in between drinking and general debauchery.
E is for edible. As in, “Are you sure that pink burger is edible?” When in doubt, chuck it out, even if it did cost you your last fiver. Hunger is preferable to food poisoning (see F).
F is for food poisoning. We’re well aware that the standard of food at festivals has grown in recent years, with some even offering gourmet pop-up dining to tickle your taste buds, but you can never be too careful. Vomiting and diarrhoea are disgusting at the best of times, nevermind in a portaloo… or your tent.
G is for grass, which will either be a muddy mess or bald by the end of the weekend, depending on weather conditions.
H is for headliners. Don’t miss RiRi at T, Beyonce at V and Snoop Dogg at… err… B-estival.
I is for Iggy Azalea, who pops up at Parklife, Reading, Leeds and Oxegen this summer. Sing it with us now, “No money, no family; sixteen in the middle of Miami.” Summer anthem waiting to happen.

J is for Jake Bugg, of course! Our very worthy June cover star will be back at T in the Park vying for his table tennis crown, as well as popping up at Isle of Wight, Glastonbury, Benicassim, Reading and Leeds.
K is for Ke$ha, who makes her return to T in the Park this year, as well as appearing on the Wireless and Isle of Wight bills. If you’ve never seen this Animal live, get all over it.
L is for Lovebox, an eclectic little monkey of a festival attracting artists like Lil’ Kim, Goldfrapp, Hurts and Rudimental, and one of our top picks for 2013.
M is for midriffs, which you’ll probably see a lot of this festival season… for better or worse.
N is for new talent. Scope it out on the smaller stages and then feel smug when your championed artist hits the big time before Christmas. You were so on that.
O is for overtired. The Monday after the weekend before. When you still have to drive five hours to get home. Ugh.
P is for PARTY! As in the one your tent neighbours are having until 5am, which involves giggling loudly, declaring how drunk they are and re-enacting their favourite performances of the day. If you can’t beat ‘em…
Q is for queues. For the loos. For food. To get into the campsite. And the festival area. Patience is a virtue, dear festival goer.
R is for Rihanna, who will no doubt bring down Balado whether you like it or not. Even the most hardened of haters will find the Bajan beauty’s prowess hard to resist.
S is for sing-a-long. Think Oasis doing Wonderwall at Glastonbury 2004 and you’re on the right track.

T is for tent and tickets. Make sure you have both or it’s going to be a very interesting weekend – and not in a good way!
U is for unique, a vibe which some festivals do better than others. Looking for something a little different? Check out Rewind and Belladrum in our festival supplement.
V is for The Vaccines playing V Festival. See what we did there?
W is for weather. Will it rain? Probably. Will you burn if it’s sunny? Definitely. Pack a waterproof jacket, a bottle of factor 50 and don’t complain; it’s all part of the experience.
X is for X Factor contestants like Amelia Lily at Sundown and James Arthur, Little Mix and Diana Vickers at T in the Park. Will she wear shoes? We’re really not shoe-r.
Y is for yurt, as in those comfy little structures that have been pre-erected at certain festivals for a little luxe camping. You can even choose your furnishing and fairy lights. Aww.
Z is for Zebra Katz. Thank goodness he’s playing festivals, or we’d have had nothing to put for Z. He’s
really rather good too! Catch him at Rockness, Parklife, Glastonbury and Lovebox.
