This particular panda is as far removed from the cute and cuddly variety found in Edinburgh Zoo as you could possibly get. No matter how malevolent he is through, he is flat out our favourite marketing mammal.
Nandos (Last Dictator Standing)
Sadly pulled because of threats made against Nando’s staff, this is so good on so many levels it deserves to be enjoyed online forever.
Tennent’s Lager Caledonia
Tennet’s might not be our lager of choice, but their marketing campaigns (barring perhaps their crappy recent one) are pretty memorable. This sentimental call to pints brings out pangs of national pride few other ads have managed.
Anything that can make lemonade look like a ‘real man’s drink’ deserves mention.
These Old Spice adverts totally reinvigorated a product that was more depressing than a wet Sunday afternoon spent watching the Eastenders omnibus. It’s better for a brand to have people laugh with them than laugh at them.
John Smiths (with Peter Kay)
Peter Kay gives us a faux pas that would sit as well in an episode of Peep Show. Snaps from us.
This isn’t just masterfully shot and strangely rousing it’s also pretty funny.
Got Milk (USA)
Why haven’t advertisers in the UK used this benefit to market milk?
GE Capital Bank
Banks and financial institutions have given us some ludicrously patronising and offensively irritating adverts over the years. GE Capital however are exempt from all charges.
Just the best advert ever . . .
