If you’re part of an up-and-coming Scottish band, or are a solo artist with dreams of world domination, then stay tuned. Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy in Scotland have teamed up with Creative Scotland to offer one Scottish act the opportunity of a lifetime: to perform at New York City’s Bowery Ballroom, supporting The View.
Acts who put themselves forward for The Big Apple Award will be shortlisted by a panel of key industry players, with the top five battling it out in a live showcase at The Garage, Glasgow, on December 19th 2012. The grand prize winner(s) will be selected by Yvonne McLellan of Island Records, Caroline Parkinson of Creative Scotland, BBC Introducing presenter Ally Macrae, Robin Murray from Clash Magazine and The Sunday Mail’s Mickey McMonagle.
And what a prize it is! The winning act will be flown to New York in April 2013 to take up their support slot at Bowery Ballroom. So what are you waiting for? Artists should send a CD demo with no more than two songs, a recent photograph, press releases or press cuttings and completed artist questionnaire to:
