One of this season’s must haves is the leather trouser. Now, before I get started on this supposed wardrobe winner, does anyone else have a fear of them? Ever since that Friends episode when Ross wore them on his date and got stuck in them I’ve been less than tempted to try them out!
You see, I don’t tend to carry around talcum powder with me. The good thing about faux leather options is that they are so so soooo much easier to get on and off than real leather but, saying that, they do still require a couple of lunges to get into.
If you fancy a pair I would normally say, “go to a charity or vintage shop and rummage!” but having done this I know it’s certainly not an easy item to find, especially if you want faux leather.
The best thing about this item is that you can incorporate it into so many of this season’s trends. Romantic Goth; wear with lace, burgundy, corsets and big jewels. Military; dig out that khaki shirt your dad owns from the 90’s and add some vintage medals along the pockets.
Leather trousers also compliment prints like no other wardrobe staple, and there are always gorgeous statement print tops in vintage stores- have a look at Erdem for your outfit inspiration. For dress down? Add a vintage cable knit, boots or brogues, a few wrist cuffs and a statement bag to one of these high street finds and you’re ready to go!
